Best Drug Rehab - Success Story

This drug rehab program has saved my life. Before I found this drug rehab, I was an all-day, every day drug user. I had done many things I was very ashamed of. I honestly didn’t think I could be helped. I was so afraid, mainly because I had been messed up for so long that I didn’t remember how it was to be sober. My parents found this drug rehab program and I thank God every day for that. This drug rehab program works miracles. It gave me another chance at life. T.W.

Addiction Recovery and Addiction

Addiction Recovery
There are several things necessary in order to affect addiction recovery for a life time. One of these is a drug free withdrawal and full detoxification program. Substitute or maintenance drugs are not a viable long term option. Ask any heroin addict who is now using methadone in addition to heroin, or ask any meth addict who now finds themselves abusing anti-depressants on a regular basis. Using additional drugs does not handle the barriers to continued drug use, but only adds to them. At Narconon Arrowhead most of our participants who have completed the New Life Detoxification Program report and end to cravings, have removed all drugs and toxins from the body, and show a marked resurgence in overall sense of well-being.

Alcohol Abuse and Addiction

Alcohol Abuse
Any treatment for addiction usually includes handling alcohol abuse. There is of course alcoholism itself, which is simply the name given to alcohol addiction. In addition to this, statistics at Narconon Arrowhead show that alcohol abuse quite often accompanies other drug addictions and must be handled as well. The idea that one can quit his drug of choice but still abuse alcohol is a dangerous idea. As drugs or alcohol are generally used as crutches for painful situations (mental or physical) in ones life, substituting one drug for another (including alcohol) can be seen as no solution at all. Effective handling of alcohol abuse, or any other substance abuse, involves confronting and controlling those life situations that are creating the need or desire to escape through alcohol or drugs. When one can be more comfortable in life without drugs or alcohol than with them, then the need or desire for them will cease.

Inpatient Drug Rehabilitation Center and Addiction

Inpatient Drug Rehabilitation Center
An inpatient drug rehabilitation center is one where the individual resides at the center for the duration of the treatment, rather than returning home daily. This is an important factor in resolving drug addiction. Drug cravings and environmental factors can and more often than not do affect the drug addicts resolve to get clean and fully face the factors that will lead to rehabilitation for a lifetime. On top of this is 24 hour care when needed. Another big benefit is the fellowship of recovering addicts and the care and concern that they offer each other. It may not appear this way when the addict is on the street, but years of experience at Narconon Arrowhead shows that this factor of addict helping addict is vital and major contributing factor to full recovery.

Methadone Addiction and Addiction

Methadone Addiction
As an opiate, regular use of methadone causes physical dependency - if you've been using it regularly (prescribed or not) once you stop you will experience a withdrawal. The physical changes due to the drug are similar to other opiates (like heroin). If you are a woman using methadone you may not have regular periods - but you are still able to conceive. Methadone is a long-acting opioid; it has an effect for up to 36 hours (if you are using methadone you will not withdraw for this period) A Personal story of methadone withdrawal: “I've been on both ends of withdrawals, heroin and methadone, every patient of methadone will always tell you the same, as I do; I can kick heroin anytime, but methadone that is something else. In 15 yrs of heroin addiction, I've kicked 3 times, 'cold-turkey'. In 10 years on methadone I've never kicked methadone.”
