Narconon Arrowhead is a drug
rehab program in the fullest sense of the term.
Rehabilitate means to restore to a former condition or state, while program refers to a series of steps to bring about an intended result.
At Narconon Arrowhead we use a multi-phase approach to first end drug
abuse and
addiction while restoring mental and physical health and vigor with full
detoxification of the body.
We then go on to assist the individual in handling issues surrounding cravings, guilt and depression that led up to and then continued the
abuse and addiction.
Once past problems and issues have been resolved to the student’s satisfaction he is ready to move into learning tools and abilities to enable him to confront the present and to create the future he wants for himself, family, career, etc. While there are probably as many issues to confront as there are addicts and each has his own particular scene, the above is the rough outline for achieving a drug free productive life for our students, while addressing each individuals particular needs.

Heroin is a highly addictive illegal drug. During the 1800’s opium
addiction was a major problem in the U.S.
Morphine was developed as supposedly a non-addictive substitute for opium but proved to be even more addictive.
The same is true of Heroin which was a supposedly non addictive replacement for morphine, but again is actually more addictive than opium or morphine.
In more modern times we know have methadone as a supposed ‘solution’ to heroin addiction.
Methadone is even more addictive than heroin. If withdrawal from heroin can be gruesome and harrowing, then methadone is even worse and can be life- threatening if unsupervised.
Drugs effects can and do vary depending on the drug (more often drugs) being abused or addicted to. All create devastating effects on health, families and careers.
There are however 3 common denominators among drug and alcohol
abuse and addiction. First are cravings and the often uncontrollable urge to use again.
Second is the feeling of guilt resulting from the addictive lifestyle and the untold harm created for self, family, friends, and society in general.
Third is the depression that inevitably results from destroyed lives, hopes and dreams.
These three points left unhandled are the cause of any future relapse. If the drug

Addiction

counseling amounts to invalidation and evaluation of the individual, both of which have minimal workability in effecting lasting change.

We use an educational approach where the individual is given the theory and the application of workable tool for maintaining a drug free lifestyle.
The individual then puts these into action for him and observes their workability to the unique situations in their lives. In this way the addict gains tools and methods that are uniquely his and that he will continue to use as he has already seen the positive results from them – not merely someone telling him what to do or think.
Addiction is a condition characterized by repeated compulsive seeking and use of drugs, alcohol or other substances despite adverse social, mental and physical consequences.
Next to methamphetamine, cocaine creates the greatest psychological dependence of any drug.
Compulsive cocaine use develops much more rapidly when the substance is smoked rather than snorted.
A tolerance to cocaine develops quickly – the addict soon fails to achieve as much pleasure as he or she did from the same amount of cocaine earlier.
Thus more and more cocaine is needed more and more often to maintain the same effect. Along with this increased use come increased health risks.
