Drug Addiction Treatment Program – Success Story

I’m really happy to complete the Narconon Arrowhead Drug Rehab Program. When I got here I was a complete mess. I was confused and depressed. Today I’m a happy, bright and a drug-free person who got her body and mind clear. I’m able to communicate with and confront myself and others. Also, I’m really happy because my friend came from New York City to see me graduate. I haven’t seen her in months and she was and still is the person who supports me. A.C.

Drug Rehab Help

Drug Rehab Help
In terms of drug rehab help, help itself is one of the issues addressed. Addicts often feel betrayed on the subject of help. They feel they have failed to help themselves. Help offered by their dealers and fellow drug friends have had the opposite effect and simply led toward further destruction of their lives and health. Family, friends, and sometimes professionals have all had their attempts at helping the individual. The addict by the time he or she reaches drug rehab often feels help is no longer possible. At Narconon Arrowhead one of the first things to be rehabilitated is the individual’s ability to reach for and accept help. True help exists in the individual gaining the skills and abilities necessary to help themselves, and then in helping their families and loved ones. Help is a two way street of giving and receiving.

Cocaine Addiction and Addiction

Cocaine Addiction
Cocaine addiction can involve the use of powder cocaine or the more potent form of cocaine known as crack. Both are highly addictive, but crack creates an almost instantaneous short lived feeling of euphoria. More and more of the substance is used more and more often in an attempt to regain the feelings of euphoria. The cocaine initially filled some sort of need for the individual. Perhaps it was only the need to fit in. Cravings, guilt, and depression soon set in and only get worse as the individual violates his own values and those of his family and loved ones in an attempt to simply get back to some feeling of normality. It is a deadly trap that can only end one of three ways – jail, death, or sobriety

Heroin Addiction and Addiction

Heroin Addiction
With regular heroin use, tolerance develops. This means the abuser must use more heroin to achieve the same intensity or effect. As higher doses are used over time, physical dependence and addiction develop. With physical dependence, the body has adapted to the presence of the drug and withdrawal symptoms may occur if use is reduced or stopped. Withdrawal, which in regular abusers may occur as early as a few hours after the last administration, produces drug craving, restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea and vomiting, cold flashes with goose bumps (‘old turkey’), kicking movements (‘kicking the habit’), and other symptoms. Major withdrawal symptoms peak between 48 and 72 hours after the last dose and subside after about a week. Sudden withdrawal by heavily dependent users who are in poor health is occasionally fatal, although heroin withdrawal is considered much less dangerous than alcohol or barbiturate withdrawal.

Rehab Centers and Addiction

Rehab Centers
What are rehab centers, and what should rehab centers do? If we understand the word rehabilitate to mean ‘restoring to a previous condition’, then we can get an idea of what a rehab center should do. Does the rehab center treat the whole being or just the substance abuse? Once drug or alcohol use ceases and the person is no longer withdrawing from use the real job of rehabilitation starts. Most addicts and alcoholics have a ton of cravings, guilt and depression to deal with. When it comes to restoring the person to a previous condition these important points must be confronted and relief obtained otherwise one is prone to relapse. These three points have been proven to be key points of address in gaining a drug free productive life without constant relapse. Narconon Arrowhead addresses these three points fully and from several different angles to as full a resolution as possible. For the individual

Addiction Support and Addiction

Addiction Support
Support generally means to give active support and encouragement to someone or some idea. Addiction support usually comes from counselors, loved ones and co-workers, support group meetings, etc. All of these are valuable and can assist the newly drug free individual maintain a drug free life. But what about addiction support that comes from the individual himself? This is probably the most essential type of support and often the one most in need of. Narconon Arrowhead specializes in helping the individual learn and apply new life skills and abilities which when applied will allow him to pull himself up by his own bootstraps. When this occurs personal certainty and belief begins to skyrocket and the individual attains the physical, mental, and emotional skills vital to sobriety, and knows he can remain clean for real, often for the first time since the addiction began.
