Addiction Recovery

Addiction Recovery
If recovery means a return of something to a normal or improved state following a setback or loss then addiction recovery is returning the addict to the state they were in prior to the addiction and ideally an improvement on that. In fact at Narconon Arrowhead we specialize in returning and addict to an improved state. As the normal state before addiction had factors which contributed to and led towards addiction, get the person into an improved state is vital to maintaining a drug free lifestyle for a lifetime. Cravings, guilt, and depression are the main factors to be eliminated which will lead to major improvements in health and outlook for the ex-addict

Drug Use and Addiction

Drug Use
Drug use occurs in an effort to relieve some form of pain, it may be physical but is often times emotional or a combination of the two. This could be as simple as using alcohol or pot to avoid peer pressure as a teen, or the use of painkillers after an industrial accident. Either way the drug is found to alleviate the symptoms. The bigger the problem, the greater the discomfort and the more relief is sought. With continued abuse the drugs begin to create mental and physical damage of their own and if continued unchecked the personís life when sober is filled with despair and misery. At this point all the person wants to do is escape these feelings by drugging or drinking them away. This is the downward spiral of addiction.

Inpatient Drug Treatment Center and Addiction

Inpatient Drug Treatment Center
Narconon Arrowhead is a long term, non-traditional, inpatient drug treatment center. What this means is that alcoholics or addicts come and reside at Narconon Arrowhead for the duration of their treatment. This is a self-paced program and is governed by results rather than a set number of days in treatment. A good average is generally 90 -120 days. Non traditional refers to the fact that we do not treat addiction or alcoholism as incurable diseases. Addiction and alcoholism can be beaten for a lifetime, and without constant worry about relapse or reversion. We work on the assumption of the basic goodness of the individual and their desire to create a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Our inpatient drug treatment center assists the individual to confront, and resolve all life situations needing addressed and so remove the need to run from them with drugs or alcohol.

Addiction Help and Addiction

Addiction Help
How does one help addiction? First of course is stopping drug use, normally known as withdrawal. Second would be a return to physical health and vitality. At Narconon Arrowhead we take this a step further and deliver the New Life Detoxification Program to thoroughly rid the body of all stored drugs and toxins. Third should be gaining the life skills and abilities to fully confront and resolve the three main components of continuing addiction which are cravings, guilt, and depression. This results in the ability to put an end to drug addiction and lead a happy, productive, drug free life. There are certainly additional factors that come up and need to be dealt with on a person by person individual level.

Addiction Cure and Addiction

Addiction Cure
Many will try and assert that there is no addiction cure. Usually this is coming from so-called experts who meaning well, have yet seen little or no long term solutions to the problem of addiction and so have labeled it an incurable disease. Nothing could be further from the truth. Addiction is a condition characterized by repeated, compulsive seeking and use of drugs, alcohol, or other substances despite social, mental, and physical consequences. It is an attempt to use the drugs or alcohol to solve lifeís problems, with the solution becoming the problem. The cure is the handling of ALL the elements that have lead up to drug abuse and addiction and then continued it Ė cravings, guilt, and depression playing major roles. It is not just cessation of drug use. It involves the acquiring of a whole array of life skills so that lifeís problems can be confronted and one can live life happily and productively Ė drug free.
